"The Android's Dream" Review

So I finished reading "The Android's Dream" by John Scalzi. The link to his blog is to the right....
I have to say that I found this book in the Dollar Tree for $1 and the cover caught my eye. I picked it up to read the synopsis and it sounded very Douglas Adams-esque. It reminded me of the humorous quirky approach to science fiction. Funny enough, the Android's Dream that is referred to in the book is a sheep, which also reminded me of "Do Android's Dream of Electric Sheep?" This all intrigued me enough to read the book.
When I came home and told my husband about it, apparently he had just been thinking about wanting to read it himself because Will Wheton tweeted that he was recording the book for audible.com. So I immediately set down and started reading it that evening.
After reading it, I found that is did remind me of the writing style of Douglas Adams. I did feel that the book spent a lot of chapters skipping from character to character so that they could introduce you to the main ones. And there were a LOT of main characters, and at times I had to go back and look to see why I knew a particular character already.
The story was an interesting one of wars between alien races, all being set off by inappropriate gas passing, which I found to be amusing. I felt that the story could have been a little more complex, but I enjoyed it and would like to read more of Scalzi's books. Overall I give it a thumbs up, and recommend it as a read. There is a fair amount of foul language in the book, which it could have done without, and a minute amount of violence (killing alien races with laser guns etc.) and is a lighter feeling work of science fiction. This would be a good quick read for those of you not looking for that serious and dark science fiction out there!

First Post!

So this is my first post, and I just wanna say hey and welcome to my blog! I love to read, and I gobble books up any way I can. I read most of my books on the Amazon Kindle, but I read many from my home library as well. I typically read science fiction and fantasy, but will read just about anything (except romance novels....). I'll be posting book reviews as I read them, as well as alerting you when I find great deals on books. Also, I appreciate recommendations as well. Enjoy!

The book I am currently reading and will be posting on soon is "The Android's Dream" by John Scalzi. I will be "spoiling" it for you in my review :-)
